We are proud to share a major milestone in our ongoing mission to drive inclusive digital transformation across Africa. Our CEO, Alexandru Postelnicu, recently met with Dr. Zolana João, Director General of GGPEN (Gabinete de Gestão do Programa Espacial Nacional)—the agency responsible for launching AngoSat-2, currently the only active communications satellite in Sub-Saharan Africa.
This strategic engagement reinforces Greenline Technologies’ partnership with GGPEN and the Ministry of Telecommunications (MINTTICS) under the Connect Angola Initiative—a nationwide effort to bridge Angola’s digital divide through innovative infrastructure.
Through this initiative, Greenline deployed terrestrial networks connected to AngoSat-2, delivering satellite internet via strategically placed dishes and distributing access through community Wi-Fi points. These installations have brought reliable connectivity to previously unconnected rural communities, enabling access to online education, telemedicine, and digital markets—profoundly improving local livelihoods.
Angola now stands among a small and ambitious group of African nations with active satellites in orbit. The only other countries on the continent that have achieved this are Nigeria, Egypt, Algeria, and South Africa—making Angola’s space program a symbol of both national pride and regional leadership.
By turning space-based assets into ground-level opportunity, Greenline is helping position Angola not only as a digital leader in Central Africa, but as a model for scalable, inclusive connectivity across the continent.
