Unlocking Africa’s Digital and Green Infrastructure Potential at African Caucus 2025 - CNBC Africa

Cape Town, August 5, 2025 – Africa’s accelerating focus on digital and green infrastructure is creating significant opportunities for investors, governments, and technology providers. At the recently held African Caucus 2025, Greenline Technologies underscored the importance of robust energy systems, AI-driven solutions, and public-private partnerships as essential drivers of sustainable growth across the continent.

In an exclusive interview with CNBC Africa, Max Sicari, Vice President of Operations at Greenline Technologies, emphasized the urgent need to expand access to reliable energy across Africa. “With only 17% of Africa’s population currently having access to electricity, there is an immediate need to increase capacity. Achieving this requires strong collaboration between investors, financial institutions, governments, and systems integrators like Greenline,” Sicari stated.

Digital Infrastructure as a Catalyst

Sicari highlighted the transformative impact of digital infrastructure, noting its role in job creation and industrial growth. “Digital infrastructure is paramount. Your business competition is just one click away,” he remarked. He further pointed out that 60% of global jobs today did not exist a decade ago, illustrating the potential for digital transformation to foster entirely new sectors across Africa.

Public-Private Partnerships as the Financing Model

On financing, Sicari reiterated Greenline’s support for public-private partnerships (PPPs) as the most effective mechanism to accelerate infrastructure delivery. “The synergy between government vision and private sector expertise ensures faster and more efficient execution. Our experience at Greenline shows the benefits of close collaboration with local authorities,” he explained.

Artificial Intelligence and Local Integration

While acknowledging the promise of Artificial Intelligence in Africa, Sicari advocated for a measured, locally integrated approach. He cautioned against building large-scale data centers without sufficient applications, citing a facility in the Central African Republic currently operating at only 5% capacity. Instead, he emphasized the integration of AI with locally developed applications in critical areas such as healthcare and education. “Transferring knowledge and building local capacity is essential to ensure sustainable growth and reduce dependency,” he added.

A Shared Vision for Growth

The event also featured a keynote address by President Fadera, who underscored the importance of robust energy and telecom infrastructures as the foundation of sustainable development. Sicari welcomed this alignment with Greenline’s ongoing projects in the Central African Republic, where the company is contributing to the nation’s digital and energy transformation.

Greenline’s Ongoing Commitment

Greenline Technologies remains firmly committed to advancing Africa’s digital and green infrastructure agenda. The African Caucus 2025 highlighted the continent’s strategic direction—one that aligns closely with Greenline’s vision to foster sustainable growth through technology, innovation, and collaboration.
